Determine whether the equation

-4 (x-3) + 7x = 3(x+4)

is true for all values of x (and hence an identity) or if it is true for only some values of x (and hence a conditional equation.)

-4 (x-3) + 7x = -4x + 12 +7x
= 3x + 12
= 3(x + 4)
Simplify the left hand side and determine if it is identical to the right hand side
State an answer with a reason. Is this an identity?
