Laws of Logarithms

Laws of Logarithms:
1. log
a(u v) = loga(u) + loga(v) {The log of a product equals the sum of the logs.}
2. log
a(u/v) = loga(u) - loga(v) {The log of a quotient equals the difference of the logs.}
3. log
a(ur ) = r loga (u)

Find the exact value of log 2 4 2.3 without using a calculator.

log 2 4 2.3 = log 2 [(22 ) 2.3 ] Write 4 as a power of 2.
  Show work. Use the second laws of exponents to combine the three terms into one log term.
