Exponential and Log Equations

Solve the equation 2 5- x /3= 7 for x and use a calculator to give a 4 decimal place approximation answers.

log 2 5- x /3 = log 7 In order to solve for x, the exponent 5 - x / 3 needs to be brought down as a factor.
This can be done by first applying the log function to both sides of the equation.
Show work. Bring the exponent 5 - x/ 3 down as a factor by applying the third law of logarithms.
